Although we will discuss the objectives of the ecological and demographical systems in greater depth during the next round of debate, we would like each participant to indicate to what degree each one of the following objectives can be shared by all the participants:

01. To control human activities and populations to avoid an attack on the planet, conserving its biodiversity and reducing environmental pollution and climate change, developing a convenient regulation of universal character with some sort of family planning effective in all geographical locations.

02. To nationally control our natural resources. It should be for countries to negotiate their natural resources in a sustainable way for the benefit of their own people, as a productive base for many of their citizens, and not for the dominant global oligopolies.

03. To put an end to the dispossesion of peasants in the South, which is one of the main forms of impoverishment directly linked to the accumulation of capital and the destruction of development possibilities. This agricultural focus is one of the main challenges of this century.

04. To cope with global climate change it is necessary to forment environmental protection and promote a low-carbon lifestyle.

05. We must understand that the health of human beings cannot be separated from that of the Earth.

06 “The Green Economy”: Joint economy and ecology, promoting the principles of environmental economics, taking into account the impacts of human activities on the human being, ecosystems and biodiversity.

07. Priority must be given to both human and sustainable development whilst, at the same time, investing in human capital and the preservation of the environment.

08. To give priority to the use of renewable resources, three main means can be mentioned. The first one is the public appropriation of natural resources essential for life; like water, air and seeds. Such resources constitute the ‘patrimony of mankind' and must be above the law of value, as defined by the capitalist economic system. They should be protected from destruction and overuse.
